[edit] United States Pharmacopeia's indicators
The USP has a list of indicator organisms, I'm not sure what's all on the list anymore, nor what they indicate.
- Geobacillus stearothermophilus (used for verifying sterilization by autoclaving)
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Salmonella typhimurium
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Escherichia coli
- Bacillus subtilis (redundant as an indicator)
- Candida albicans
- Aspergillus niger
I know there are others, but they're not coming to me off-hand. I haven't seen the USP in a year, so...if someone has a copy and can pore through it, it might make a nice addition to this (rather small) article. Tomertalk 23:38, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
