Indianismo

Indianismo, sometimes Indigenismo, was a movement in Latin American literature that explored the beliefs and lifestyles of the Indigenous peoples during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Often the term is used specifically to refer to works produced during the 1920s and 1930s.

Prominent indianista writers include José María Arguedas, Miguel Angel Asturias, João Guimarães Rosa, Ciro Alegría, and Juan León Mera.
