[edit] Annexation Boundary Line Debate
In November 2007, the voters of Independence, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri, voted for seven schools which consists of one high school, one middle school, and five elementary schools to be taken over by the Independence School District. This is perceived as another major setback for the KCMO District and a huge undertaking with a great boon for Western Independence. The Independence District must now hire as many as 600 educators and support staff for the 2008-2009 school year including their normal attrition.
