Leprechaun 4: In Space is a 1997 direct-to-video horror sci-fi comedy film directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith. It is the third sequel to the 1992 film Leprechaun. Its tagline is "One small step for man. One giant leap of terror!"
[edit] Plot Summary
In the year 2096, a group of space Marines descend to a desolate planet to seek and destroy alien life. One Marine, Books Malloy, is assigned to keep track of Dr. Tina Reeves. The Leprechaun is on the planet attempting to court the chained princess Zarina, whom he presumably kidnapped before the events of the film. He plans to marry her and murder her father in order to become king of her home planet. The Marines attack and the Leprechaun kills one with a lightsaber. The rest of the Marines enter the cave and initiate a firefight, during which the Leprechaun throws himself on a grenade in order to save the princess. In the aftermath of the battle, one of the Marines, Kowalski, urinates on the Leprechaun's decapitated head.
The Marines return to their ship with the princess, where the half-robotic Dr. Mittenhand explains to his assistant his plans to use the princess' DNA to recreate his own mutilated body. Elsewhere on the ship, Costello and Kowalski go to an abandoned area of the ship to have sex. During foreplay, the Leprechaun emerges from Kowalski's penis, killing him. The Marines attempt to track and destroy the Leprechaun, who is trying to locate the princess on the ship. The Leprechaun kills most of the crew members in various gruesome and absurd ways. The Leprechaun eventually finds the princess in Dr. Mittenhand's laboratory, kills the doctor's assistant Harold, and injects the doctor with blue DNA goo which he mixed in a blender with a live scorpion and tarantula, then sets off the ship's self-destruct mechanism with a 20 minute delay. Books sends Sticks to the bridge to defuse the self-destruct but he is stopped by a password prompt. Books and Tina confront the Leprechaun in the cargo bay, who grows to many times his own size after being exposed to Dr. Mittenhand's experimental enlargement ray. Tina hurries to the bridge to help Sticks figure out the password while Books stays to deal with the enormous Leprechaun.
Sticks is attacked and tangled in webs by the now mutated and deformed Dr. Mittenhand, who has taken the shape of a giant spider-like creature and begun calling himself "Dr. Mitten-Spider." Tina sprays the doctor with liquid nitrogen from a hose and then shoots him, shattering his body. Books avoids the giant Leprechaun and opens the airlock so he is sucked out into space and explodes. Books joins the others at the helm, and they discover that the password to the self-destruct is "Wizard," since Dr. Mittenhand previously referred to himself as "the wizard behind the curtain," stopping the self-destruct with only seconds to spare. The three rejoice and Books and Tina kiss as the spaceship flies past the remains of the giant Leprechaun's body. They fly past his fist, clenched with middle finger extended.
