In memoriam card
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An in memoriam card is small card that is printed as a memory to certain events such as first communion, marriage, priesthood and in particular at a death. Except a religious image, it often also includes a prayer or a text. The card first occurred in The Netherlands in the 17th Century.
When printed at the occasion of a death, the name, title, date of birth and death of the deceased are mentioned. The use of an in memoriam card occurs almost exclusively under catholics. The in memoriam cards are distributed during the funeral to the people present. They are generally pressed on A7-format, other formats are what less usual.
