Template:In-universe rationale

[edit] Template documentation

The {{in-universe rationale}} template is designed to work within the context of notability guidelines for fictional subjects. Articles on Wikipedia should be notable which can be difficult to achieve based on solely in-universe information. However, for stylistic reasons, an accurate and concise in-universe description of fictional elements may cause the article for the fictional work to become too long. When this step is performed by consensus of the page editors, adding this template to the article's talk page will help to

  1. Identify the work as primary in-universe
  2. Identify the main article which the sub-article was split from
  3. Remind editors that such in-universe articles are under high scrutiny and should be maintained to Wikipedia's highest standards
  4. Inform editors not involved with the work when and why the split was performed, as to prevent them from tagging the page with a notability or in-universe warning.
