Jerri Nielsen is a physician, was at a well-stocked scientific research station - not alone - and didn't perform surgery on herself. Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure that you're thinking of her. Merenta (talk) 17:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Also, the following appears to be unsupported by either discussion or even by the newspaper accounts:

"She was also lucky to have drunk a sublethal dose of isopropyl alcohol."

if you've worked in a labour ward, you would experience the most ancient experience of life which begins with enormous pain to the channel of life (the mother). If its a friend of yours, i'd advise you not to be there; only if your the 'supposedly' link channel cause of the life (the father). Pain is so vastly individualized, its almost like the prints on our palms and soles. Labour pain is by all the top in severity, some women go absolutely mad when in labour saying 'they are going to DIE', some run naked out onto the road...if lying in bed they would scream over and over and over with there eyes bulging open and there hands wavering about feet wanting to walk around, this is pain grade 10/10 plus great hormonal influence(mind you, a fractured bone 'may be' grade 7/10 with hardly any hormonal input) and considering it has been 9months of waiting for the baby, if a woman has had any difficult past experiences of similar episodes, she could do almost anything! Yes...almost anything! People do crazy things in this world, suicide bombing for a cause, suicide slaughtering, throw themselves from '89th floor'; I wonder whats so amusing about a mother in a rural area trying to save her baby from not dying like her previous baby. WAHT!?

I believe Ines is a very strong woman, mother of 7 children (plus the careless big spoiled brat who was out having a drink)did it. I believe she did it. I understand that the hormonal influence and the changes in pregnancy gave her the luck she deserved and made her gain consciousness again, but what i dont understand is where were all her other 5 children, and why did she send the youngest to call for help? were the other children helping her???
