Impressions of a Patch of Blue is one of the few albums Sun Ra contributed on as a sideman. It's also the last album Walt Dickerson released before his comeback in the mid-70's. The album is quite mainstream considered that it's recorded in the mid 60's with Sun Ra. An interesting detail, though, is that he plays the harpsichord which is very rare in jazz (if it has been done at all except from this recording)).[citation needed].
