Imperial Rescript
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An Imperial Rescript is a major political edict issued from an imperial authority. In each culture where practiced there are specific traditions, normally associated with the written form the statement takes (whence the term 'rescript').
Examples:
- Gettysburg Address famously (but inaccurately) supposed to have been originally composed on the back of an envelope.
- Hatt-ı Hümayun
- Japanese Imperial Rescript On Surrender Hirohitos rescript ending World War II in the pacific.
