Imperfect Networks, Inc. provides solutions for securing network equipment. It offers products that create and execute negative tests, such as attacks, threats, and protocol faults on network equipment. The company provides ThreatEx that performs attacks for IDS/IPS and security assessment; and injects faults and mal-formed packets into any existing traffic stream allowing to simulate problem traffic that plagues communication networks. Imperfect Networks was founded in 2003 and was based in Holyoke, Massachusetts with development facilities in Burlington and Holyoke, Massachusetts.

Spirent Communications announced in 2006 that it has acquired the business of Imperfect Networks, Inc., a developer of security testing systems. The companies' news release, the acquisition would allow Spirent to offer security testing systems to its customers across a number of markets.
