From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

iMentor is a nonprofit organization based in New York City. It has served over 5,000 high school students through one-to-one mentoring relationships since its founding in 1999[1].

In 1999, John Griffin of Blue Ridge Capital founded iMentor along with two public interest lawyers, Richard Buery and Matthew Klein. The program began with 49 students in one school in the South Bronx. In the past eight years, iMentor has expanded to include working partnerships with high schools and after school programs in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, & the Bronx. Every mentor-mentee pair cultivates their relationship using iMentor's combination of weekly email correspondence and regular in-person meetings.
