  • My name is Iain MacLean.
  • I was born in Timaru, New Zealand in 1958.
  • I have lived in the Wellington area since 1982, and have lived in the seaside village of Pukerua Bay, in the city of Porirua since 1988. I live there with my wife, Kate, and three children.

  • I have previously been a landscape gardener, a radio announcer, producer and journalist, and a press secretary to several New Zealand Cabinet Ministers from 1994-1997 before going into public relations with government departments and a consultancy WHAM Media.
  • We now have our own business MacLean Communications and I work as a freelance public relations consultant or contractor, mostly for local and central government.
  • I am currently working for the Department of Internal Affairs on a project associated with the 2007 local body elections.
