Image magic

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Image magic is a kind of Medieval European magical operation where the operator casts an image in wax and then acts on it (pierces it with a needle, melts it over a fire, etc) in order to achieve a supernatural affect. It is historically associated with necromancy and with astrology. Manuscripts on the subject of image magic have often been found collected in medieval codexes along with manuscripts focused on natural phenomenon.
