Ikoma Ienaga
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ikoma Ienaga (生駒家長?) (?-1607) was relatively a senior retainer beneath the clan of Oda throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. As Ienaga was the respective brother of Kitsuno, and initially supported Oda Nobunaga around the time at which his sister became a concubine under the latter, Ienaga was treated with exceeded regard, justifiably by means of the romantic love that Nobunaga held towards Kitsuno, as opposed to any other variable concubine beneath him. More than likely serving as a primary supporter to Nobunaga throughout the Battle of Okehazama in 1560, Ienaga went on to assist his respective lord within many other battles, one of which being Moribe in 1561. Following the death of the Saito and the Oda's furthered rise to power, Ienaga gradually grew in his seniority among the rank of retainer, moderately making a name for himself by the 1570 Battle of Anegawa against the opposing Asai and Asakura contingents. Even as Ienaga's sister was unfortunately dead by this present time in history, he continued to support Nobunaga as a sword of conviction with the passage of many additional years, until the former was put to rest in 1582, consequently forcing Ienaga to support Toyotomi Hideyoshi as his new lord. Up until the Sekigahara Campaign of 1600, it can be surmised that Ienaga rationally chose to fight on the side of Tokugawa Ieyasu when taking into consideration how he would be mutually treated by Ieyasu if the former were to realize the seat of honor at which Ienaga sat beneath Nobunaga, even though being at a more subjective level. And thus, as history would have it, Ienaga died by some unknown means during the year of 1607, more likely by means of potential old age.
