Short Bio
I always had deep faith in the potential of Internet to participate promptly in the development of many countries in my region. This can not be effective if the parties concerned are not engaged in the process. It was understood that there should be an implementation of a global mechanism that will make sure that everybody will benefit from this tool that changed every concept in this world from Marketing, communication, press, learning, in short the world's economy and definitely changed my life!
In 2006 I got another scholarship to pursue a course to study Internet Governance at DiploFoundation, an international organization assisting citizens from countries with limited funds in issues related to diplomacy, policy and Internet Governance. My participation quickly resulted in my involvement in different projects, I am tutoring participants from the MENA region and as the research coordinator of Internet Governance projects.
This experience gave me finally the opportunity to be involved in the policy making process while I was representing the organization in international meetings namely the Internet Governance Forum organized by the UN in its both editions till now: Athens 2006 and Rio de Janeiro 2007.
The qualities that are accumulated throughout my professional career can be summarized in my high level of determination, persistence, international exposure in high profile meetings, strong will, and the ambition to make the voice of the people from the least developed countries heard at the international level, participate in the empowerment of young capacities.
As for the personal qualities , I think i became more aware of the difference I can make by sharing my knowledge with other people who did not have the chance to access the same opportunities.
I devoted a significant time trying to decode different issues which are related to cyber space throughout different research projects during my academic enrolment. Ending up in the Internet Governance field is no coincidence as the centre of my research was and will always be the impact of internet on sustainable development and how it is important to implement a monitoring but not a controlling system that will give more opportunities to LDC’s but will as well respect civil liberties. My academic qualifications encompass different fields, Economist by vocation holding a bachelor degree in Business& commerce from Hassan II university and Sorbonne but also have a legal background as I have a Master degree in Human Rights and democratization from University of Malta & University of London, studied English literature and linguistics at Mohammed V university and I am carrying out an IPR course at UC Berkley and I speak and write 6 languages. I am very involved in the IG process and being part of Diplo is an asset that gave me exposure at the international level representing the organisation and the opportunity to experience collaborative work being the research coordinator of Diplo’s Internet Governance projects, a tutor of the MENA region groups and in charge of Diplo’s partnership projects and networking with institutions interested in IG capacity building in the region.
The IG topics of special interest are: Access, IPR, Human Rights, and Safety issues, policy making process, Internet and politics, and finally International relations in the era of Internet.
