[edit] Crisis in Terengganu
Following the 2008 Malaysian general election, BN managed to win in the Terengganu state election garnering 24 out of 32 state seats on offer, with PAS winning the remaining 8 seats. A crisis soon ensued after the Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, who is also current Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia, refused to re-appoint and swear in Idris as Menteri Besar. The sultan instead appointed Ahmad Said, one of the 24 BN state assemblymen. Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi responded by saying that the appointment of Ahmad Said as "unconstitutional".[1] The 22 other BN assemblymen had also pledged their support toward the appointment of Idris Jusoh according to Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.[2] On March 26 2008, his Datukship title was withdrawn by Istana Terengganu.
The Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi later agreed the appointment of Menteri Besar by Istana Terengganu after an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
