Idaho Adventures is a certified, white-water/fishing, outfitting business which has been in operation since 1973. Also the building has an espresso café offering a variety of drinks and a gift shop for souvenirs and river necessities. It's a family owned business with headquarters along the Salmon River in Salmon Idaho.
Town History
Salmon Idaho has many historical points of interest. The 45th Parallel is just miles away, it is the birth place of Sacajawea, and a stop along Lewis and Clarks’ journey. With only 3,122 inhabitants the historical information has been preserved.
Guides
All guides employed by Idaho Adventures are licensed by the Idaho Outfitter and Guides Licensing Board and are certified in both First Aid and CPR. Most guides at Idaho Adventures are local. You will have the historical and geographical information explained to you by a Salmon Valley native.
Offered Trips
History and mountain scenes are guaranteed within the variety of trips offered. The shortest option is a half day trip which is generally a gentle scenic adventure with beverages and snacks. Animal watching is a major part in this 2-3 hour trip which departs from the in-town access ramp.
A full day 13 mile tour runs through class 3 and 4 rapids. Lunch is provided halfway down river on a sandy beach.
A 2-3 day trip offers fishing and riverside camping in a canyon. This is 28-49 miles of water and history. Included is Dutch oven cuisine, and overnight wilderness gear.
The 2nd deepest gorge in North America is where a 5-6 day trips wander. Rafts float 86 miles of free-flowing river through the Frank Church ‘River of No Return’ Wilderness, the largest federally designated wilderness in the lower 48.
Raft and kayak rentals are available. Idaho Adventure also rents out wet suits, life jackets, paddles, dry bags, pumps, River Johnnys (toilet), helmets, etc.
What Is Provided & What You Need To Bring
Idaho Adventures provides you with a certified and licensed guide, beverages, meals (not included on the half day) and, round-trip transportation from Salmon, ID.
There are always things you will need of your own; a swimming suit, nylon shorts, river sandals or shoes that can get wet, sunglasses, secure hat, sunscreen, and a rain suit (rentals are available). Overcast happens and cold weather is a possibility. For these kinds of days a sweatshirt or fleece jacket is suggested, wool socks, and lightweight pants. Denim and heavy cotton is not a good idea (it doesn’t dry out fast enough, and you will be cold and wet all day).
Age Minimums
Idaho Adventures recommends that children be 6 years of age to participate in a half day float, and 8 years for whitewater trips.
