Ibanez E-Gen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ibanez E-Gen is a guitar manufactured by Ibanez, as Herman Li's signature model, released in 2008.

The E-Gen is based upon the S series guitars, which had been previously used rather extensively by Li. It shares many similarities with the Traditional Prestige S-series guitars, such as a 3-piece mahogany body with a flamed maple top and a 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck, though the neck profile is modified slightly. Modifications include the fretboard having 24 frets, instead of the traditional amount of 22 on most S-series guitars; in addition, frets 20-24 are scalloped. The body also has a series of routings on the upper horn, forming a grip, similar to the monkey grip on the Ibanez JEM guitars. Like other S guitars, the E-Gen is routed for 2 humbucking pickups with a single-coil between them (H-S-H configuration) but the pickups are custom-designed for Li by DiMarzio.
