[edit] Episode synopsis

Charlotte feels ready to date properly again, and has a lovely evening with divorced Eric (Terry Maratos), till he sees Trey's old apartment which she now owns 'of the rich' and instantly considers them incompatible. Samantha sees Richard at lunch time with another woman, apologizes when he's coolly insulted by her insinuations, but still follows him, breaks in a hotel room and actually catches them for what he can just call 'just sex'.

Miranda and Steve build a crib for their unborn son, who Miranda has decided she would like to call Danny.

Carrie drops in on Mr. Big after calling to tell him she's feeling lonely. Upon her arrival she sees that the furniture in his apartment is missing. He tells her he's moving to Napa, CA because he's "Tired of Old New York" They settle down with a bottle of wine and old records and dance to Moon River in his empty apartment. Carrie tells Big that he owes her more than leaving without a proper goodbye. She plans to see him Sunday night, as he's moving Monday at 5pm. She talks with her friends about Big leaving and the possibility of sleeping with him one last time. She eventually finds the perfect date shoes and tells Miranda that she has decided that if it feels right she will sleep with Mr. Big, Miranda then asks Carrie to be in the hospital room with her when she is giving birth because she wants something normal to look at to keep her calm, Carrie reluctantly agrees.

Sunday night brings a buggie ride in central park and a passionate kiss that is interrupted by Miranda going in to labor. Mr. Big rushes Carrie to the hospital after paying the driver to leave the park and take her where she needs to go. He leaves her with a wink, his goodbye to her, as she asks about lunch the next day around 2pm. Carrie walks in to the hospital to find Miranda pacing and attempting to break her water which she successfully does all over Carrie's brand new shoes.

Miranda is in labor over night and well in to the next day. She finally gives birth with Steve and Carrie by her side. Upon the babies arrival she decides that she will call him Brady, after Steve Brady. Brady Hobbes. Carrie quickly rushes out to catch Big as Charlotte and a wigged Samantha rush in to see the baby.

Carrie arrives at Mr. Big's apartment but it is empty except for the record of Henry Mancini sitting against the wall. On the record Big has left a note that says "IF YOU EVER FEEL LONELY" behind the record is an envelope that says "IF I EVER FEEL LONELY" she opens the envelope to find a plane ticket. The episode ends with Carrie walking back to her apartment and the quote "It was official, a new season had begun. Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come in to your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky...a plane ride away."
