Hywel

Hywel was the name of a number of persons in Welsh and Breton history:
- Hoel a legendary king of Brittany
- Huwal of the West Welsh, 10th century king, possibly of Cornwall or identical to Hywel Dda
- Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good) (died 950), king of much of Wales, from Deheubarth
- Hywel ab Owain Gwynedd (died 1170), prince of Gwynedd and poet.
- Hywel Bennett (born 1944), a welsh actor
