[edit] List of Parser Generators
I realize that you are attempting to make the page as accurate as possible. That is greatly appreciated. However, the term "free software" refers to a very narrow category of software - open source + free distribution.
The term "freeware" is far more accurate to describe the software in that category. All of the software is free, but some have closed source and some have a restricted free version. The other category is commercial software - software that must be purchased.
Please keep the page at its "Freeware / Shareware" and "Commercial" headers. The topic is has been discussed quite a bit. Have a great day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DevinCook (talk • contribs) 21:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Comparison of Parsers
Why are you deleting information from the article? Wikipedia articles should be made better rather to contain less information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Urmech (talk • contribs) 13:25, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
It contains more information. If you want an chart key table, create a useful and readable one. I you do not stop reverting my revisions, I will ask for protection until the dispute is resolved. But beware that nearly all my changes are based on consensus of the community.--Hyperyl 13:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

- I read the conversation before. You are removing valuable information concerning licensing open source vs. commerical, etc.... Why are you doing this? --Urmech 13:30, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am doing this to improve the article! Please read my statements about Open Source and commercial software and you will know what it is - it seems that you do not know what it is. If you have a problem, please contact an administrator. I will not discuss my decision with you any more, because your knowledge about licensing seems to be not very profound.--Hyperyl 13:34, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Let's work on a consensus before deleting so much information.--DevinCook 13:44, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Keep my new table and add an appropriate char key!--Hyperyl 13:45, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- The chart keep was fine, you should have fixed it rather than delete it. The linking of the different items is appreciated. However, the deletion of license information is not good for the user. The open source columns should be labeled as such. Most developers don't know the details of each. Also GOLD, my parser, has two licenses. It is freeware (for the Builder) and open source for the Engines. We need to work togather. Please don't make huge changes without talking to people. --DevinCook 13:51, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, add an improved version and everything is fine. The license information follows the same scheme as all other comparisons and we agreed based on consensus that separating free and proprietary software will just cause trouble. GOLD has a proprietary license on its website. If it actually generates free software, please provide a link to the license on GOLDs wikipage and add the necessary information to the table.--Hyperyl 13:57, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
