[edit] History

[edit] Craft Ales

Hydes brew six seasonal beers each year, with each beer available for a period of two months. For 2007, the theme was musical ("Inn Tune With Hydes"), consisting of:[1]

Past themes have taken inspiration from different areas, with the theme for 2006 coming from the world of cinema:[2]

  • Free Spirit, 4.8% abv (Jan-Feb),
  • Heavenly Draft, 4.2% abv (Mar-Apr),
  • Dr's Orders, 4.4% abv (May-Jun),
  • Cutty Shark, 4.1 % abv (Jul-Aug),
  • Hidden Treasure, 4.5% abv (Sept-Oct),
  • Stormtrooper, 5.0% abv (Nov-Dec).

In 2000, the theme was less clear, with the seasonal beers consisting of:[3]

  • Harry Vederchi, 4.8% abv (Jan-Feb),
  • Clever Endeavour, 4.5% abv (Mar-Apr),
  • Hair Raid, 4.2% abv (May-Jun),
  • Your Bard, 4.0 % abv (Jul-Aug),
  • Henry's Hampton, 4.4% abv (Sept-Oct),
  • Rocket Fuel, 5.0% abv (Nov-Dec).

[edit] Contract Brewing

In addition to brewing a variety of their own ales, Hydes also contract both Harp Lager and cask Boddingtons, amongst others.

[edit] Brewery Tours

Hydes offer tours around their brewery which let visitors sample a range of beers in the Brewery bar. These tours are available Monday to Thursday evenings, beginning at 7.30pm. After being escorted to the Brewery bar, visitors are given a brief guide to the history of Hydes whilst enjoying the first drink of the evening. They are then taken on a tour, with the tour itself lasting between 30 and 45 minutes. Afterwards, visitors are returned to the bar to sample a few more pints to showcase the range of beers that Hydes offer.
