I have seen a few of Hyapatia Lee's movies, which are my only sources; the only ones I can cite here as being relevant are entitled "Heavenly Hyapatia" and "Snakedance."
There seems to be a lot of spiritual/occult overtones in much of Ms. Lee's work, and it seems to be very autobiographical. I wonder if anyone out there knows more about this? Moreover, despite all her talk of Native American spirituality, the spiritual content in her films seems to owe more to Western occultism than Native American belief. Can anyone provide any details on this?
While her name change to "Hyapatia" is supposedly to reflect her Native American heritage, comments in one of her films seemed to indicate that she was paying homage to Hypatia of Alexandria (the misspelling notwithstanding) in the risque version of that woman's biography.
Her insistence that her husbands take her last name may have something to do with feminism, but I believe it has more to do with Cherokee tradition.

[edit] Golden Age Of Porn?

It says she was in the Golden Age of Porn in the 80s, but the link to the Golden Age of Porn says the time era ended in the mid 70s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omarcheeseboro (talkcontribs) 00:30, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
