What is the correct, Danish pronunciation of Hvidovre? I remember trying to get from Kopenhagen to Odense so that I could bike to Juelsminde (in Jylland). This involved a brief trip on the subway, and I passed Hvidovre on the way. The automated PA system made Hvidovre sound like "loo" (think British term for toilet), and I have since wondered whether it was the PA sounding strange, or the Danish language seeming to skip entire syllables that my linguistically challenged mind expected to be there.
I would have asked a Dane while there, but I promptly forgot the name of the town until seeing it in an article today.
