Description

A Sikorsky HUS-1 Seahorse (after 1962 UH-34E) of Marine squadron HMM-262 from the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain (CVS-39) retireving the Freedom 7 spacecraft (Mercury-Redstone 3), with which astronaut Alan Shepard made the first U.S. suborbital flight into space on 5 May 1961 (location: 27.23° N 75.88° W).
