Hunter C. Carter (born 27 June 1987 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) is a Republican politician and the current Division B Alderman-Elect of the Greensburg Town Council in St. Helena Parish in southeastern Louisiana. As of 2008, he is the youngest elected official in the State of Louisiana. He is a nephew of Greensburg Mayor Ken L. Carter. Carter had the open endorsements of Republican U.S. Senator David Vitter, Democratic State Senator Ben Nevers, State Representative John Bel Edwards, Sheriff Nat Williams, District 2 Police Juror Thomas Wicker, and Mayor Ken Carter.

Carter was born into well-known political families on both the paternal and maternal sides. Born prematurely, Carter was not expected to live any longer than three months. Carter has had over thirteen surgeries, which include major heart operations. He graduated from Oak Forest Academy in Amite, the seat of Tangipahoa Parish, where he was class president. He credits Louisiana Boys State for inspiring his interest in politics.

Carter is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, where he is majoring in political science. He serves on the executive board of the Louisiana Federation of college Republicans. As well as an adviser to State Representative John Edwards.

Carter has been praised as an upcoming star in the Republican Party because of his age and ability to reach minority voters.
