Hunt Petroleum

Hunt Petroleum is an oil and gas exploration and production company (originally called Petrol Production Co.) formed in 1950 and later renamed to Hunt Petroleum. The company is a Delaware corporation owned 52.84% by the Margaret Hunt Trust Estate and 47.16% by the Haroldson L. Hunt, Jr. Trust Estate. The primary beneficiaries of these two trusts are the two eldest children of the late H.L. and Lyda Bunker Hunt. On June 10, 2008, XTO Energy has announced the purchase of Hunt Petroleum for $4.19 billion.[1]

Hunt Petroleum Corporation has no common ownership and is not affiliated with any of the following entities: Hunt Oil Company; Petro-Hunt, LLC; Hunt Exploration; Unity Hunt; Hunt Properties; or Rosewood Resources.

Aviara Energy Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hunt Petroleum Corporation, is an oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Houston, Texas.

On June 10th, Hunt Petroleum was purchased by Ft. Worth based XTO Energy for $4.2 billion.
