Human Rights Arts and Film Festival

The Human Rights Arts and Film Festival (also known as HRAFF) was formed in 2007 in Melbourne.

The Festival coordinators, Evelyn Tadros and Naziath Mantoo, students of the University of Melbourne, were inspired by human rights film festivals held overseas such as The New Zealand Human Rights Film Festival, the New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival, the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in New York and the 3 Continents Human Rights Film Festival. HRAFF is run by an incorporated association of volunteers and is a not-for-profit event. It is the first human rights film festival to take place in Australia.

The inaugural HRAFF will run from 29 November to 15 December 2007 at RMIT Capitol Theatre (link) and Bus Gallery in Melbourne. It will then travel to Sydney, the Peats Ridge Festival in New South Wales and Curtin University in Perth.

In addition to films, HRAFF will include films, art, speakers, discussion forums and performances.
