Category talk:Human welfare organizations

[edit] Category name

I created this category to gather together the relevant organizations but we may need a better category title. Basically service organizations are a type of function that should be gathered; there are, for example, animal welfare organizations and various human welfare organizations, all of which provide social, medical, health, financial, relief, and other services essential to life. What's the best naming structure for this? It's distinct from Category:Social work organizations which includes, for example, professional associations of social workers.

Maybe the tree could be:

Category:Organizations by activity
Category:Welfare and service organizations
Category:Animal welfare organizations
Category:Human welfare organizations
Category:Fraternal and service organizations (might do either or both or other; should also be classed in social organizations since socializing is a major function of these)

I'll boldly establish & we can discuss if it works.

Tentatively, if it works, we might want to rename this category to capture aid, welfare, relief, and service; perhaps Category:Human welfare and service organizations? I think that "welfare" includes both maintenance and the more emergency/urgent care implications of "aid" and "relief". --Lquilter (talk) 20:04, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
