Hugh Gavin (born October 25, 1878) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the VFL.
Gavin was a key defender and was a member of Essendon's inaugural premiership side in 1897. In 1902 he won a W. S. Crichton Medal and Champion of the Season award for his performances for both the Essendon Club and the whole VFL competition respectively. He was a regular Victorian representative in interstate football and in 1903 he spent a season in the West Australian goldfields before returing home for one final year at Essendon.
