[edit] Summary

The seal depicts the colonial fort that stood near the Merrimack River in the north end of Hudson. As the fort no longer exists, the seal's artist, Henry Fraser, was forced to use an early "poor drawing" of the fort to create his design. The seal was commissioned by Town Moderator Ned Spalding. If you look closely at the seal, you can see a figure near the edge of the fort. During colonial times, an armed guard would patrol around the fort on the look out for possible attacks from the local Native American population.
