Hubik is a surname thought to have originated from Czechoslovakia. It is one of many surnames believed to have been derived from that of a nickname.

The original Czech word 'huba' means 'big mouth' and it was thought that the original holder of this name had a big mouth - whether literally or metaphorically.

Other common variations of the name are Hubick or Hubiack.
