Hubert Webb

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hubert Webb was the prime suspect and one of the killers in the Vizconde Massacre. He is the son of former Senator Freddie Webb and brother of Pinky Webb, an ABS-CBN news anchor. The fourth child in the brood, he was put behind bars, first as a suspect at the Parañaque City Jail in August 1995, and as a convict at the New Bilibid Prison five years later. As a suspect in the crime, Hubert claims he was in the United States on June 30, 1991, when the family members were brutally murdered. The evidence that his defense produced—the flight manifest of the United Airlines that listed Webb as a passenger; certification by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) that Webb was in the US from March 1991 to October 1992; a receipt from a bicycle dealer that Hubert was in his shop on the dates in question-were not given any credence by the Court of Appeals (CA). Despite being convicted of the crime, Hubert Webb and his family still maintains his innocence. Hubert is a ranking officer of the Sigue Sigue Sputnik Gang at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Senator Webb said the family visits Hubert every Sunday and celebrates with him all occasions, including birthdays, in his cell.[1]
