[edit] The How To Website
The How To Website has been proposed for deletion. I support this proposal, because Wikipedia is not the place to advertise. Please review WP:NOT and Wikipedia:Importance to see why Wikipedia rejects certain articles. The website ought to be notable to have an article--it should be something that people might actually look up wanting to know about. If you believe that the subject does meet the guidelines for inclusion, please edit the article to make that more clear.
If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the {{prod}} template, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If the tag is removed without the article being improved, the article may face deletion through debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. NickelShoe 03:59, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page Ductile iron do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Nposs 05:12, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Casting. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. I am sorry. I thought it was related to the pages about iron castings and other foundry related articles. I didn't realize that the moderation was so strict or that you couldn't link to commercial sites.
In my discussion with other people I know, they have brought up the fact that there aren't any links or listings to companies/individuals who provide services related to the articles on Wikipedia.
However, I understand your point and I will stop.
- I think the main thing to keep in mind is that external links should really add a great deal of additional content to the article. Commercial links are not banned (for example, there are lots of links to news articles from newspapers) - but Wikipedia isn't a just a directory of links (WP:NOT). Good luck with your future edits.
