Howell Binkley

Howell Binkley is a professional lighting designer in New York City. He has lit a plethora of major Broadway shows, including many for the prolific Hal Prince. A frequent collaborator with director Des McAnuff, Binkley's work on Jersey Boys earned him the 2006 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design of a musical. He is also a collaborator and co-founder of David Parsons's Parsons Dance Company.

Howell Binkley attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where he started his career working with dance programs.

Binkley is well known for his use of heavy color, accented by clear and L201 hues. He frequently uses smoke or haze to accent his use of focus. His designs are partly based upon Craig Miller and Tom Skelton's use of cross focussing to make diamond effects.
