[edit] Named after the magician?

Where did the name come from? The article could reference whether or not it is named after the famous magician Houdini. Canuckle 19:44, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Houdinisoftware.jpg

Image:Houdinisoftware.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

i dont think you need to worry about fair use, this entire article was obviously created by the company,a huge reference to this software has also mysteriously appeared on the wikipedia article about procedural generation —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.159.196 (talk) 17:34, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I'm deleting line #2, about it "being preferred"

The second line of this article, reads like this: "It is often preferred over competing packages, such as Maya or XSI, for pure visual effects tasks, as opposed to character animation". I'm deleting this line. It's just advertising, meaningless, and unnecessary. 203.166.255.9 23:53, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Contradictory sentence

"Like Maya, Houdini is an open-environment and uses the popular Tcl/Tk scripting language and toolkit (as opposed to the proprietary MEL used in Maya)". Don't you think this is a bit contradictory? --192.167.206.241 02:43, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I've removed the references to Maya in this sentence. 99.231.142.105 (talk) 13:49, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
