Description
English: Detail from a mosaic at the Katholikon church in the monastery of Hosios Lukas in Greece, 11th century. The text is from John 8:12 and reads: ἐγώ εἰμι τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου. ὁ ἀκολουθὼν ἐμοὶ οὐ μὴ περιπατήσει ἐν τῆ σκοτία ἀλλ' ἔξει τὸ φῶς τῆς ζωῆς. (I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.)
Deutsch: Detail eines Mosaiks aus der Katholikon-Kirche im Kloster Hosios Lukas in Griechenland, 11. Jahrhundert. The Text stammt aus dem Johannes-Evangelium (8:12) und lautet: ἐγώ εἰμι τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου. ὁ ἀκολουθὼν ἐμοὶ οὐ μὴ περιπατήσει ἐν τῆ σκοτία ἀλλ' ἔξει τὸ φῶς τῆς ζωῆς. (Ich bin das Licht der Welt. Wer mir nachfolgt, der wird nicht wandeln in der Finsternis, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.)
