Hossainpur is located at 24.4167° N 90.6500° E . It has 29486 units of house hold and total area 121.29 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Hossainpur has a population of 148028. Males constitute are 51.49% of the population, and females 48.51%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 72824. Hossainpur has an average literacy rate of 23.1% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
