Hospira, Inc. is a pharmaceutical and drug delivery company. It has approximately 16,000 employees and 19 manufacturing facilities worldwide and is headquartered north of Chicago in Lake Forest, Illinois. Hospira acquired Mayne Pharma (an Australian generics specialist oncology drug maker) on February 2, 2007 for a reported $2.6 billion and became the largest generic injectables company in the world. Hospira also produces a broad line of generic acute-care injectables to address the high cost of proprietary pharmaceuticals. In addition it provides medication management and infusion therapy.
