Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Now, I've heard both ways, but some people from the area told me it was actually pronounced "HOAR EE" county, not "ORR EE", but there was an unofficial campaign to have it changed to the latter pronunciation due to the double meaning of the first. Harksaw 01:20, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Some people say "HOAR-EE" because they don't know any better, so sometimes you will hear it pronounced that way. I made the mistake when I first moved to South Carolina. But I can tell you with 100% certainty that it's "OAR-EE". MoodyGroove 12:20, 24 July 2007 (UTC)MoodyGroove
I'm going to change the IPA, assuming that you meant it at least rhymes with "hoary". kwami —Preceding comment was added at 02:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
