[edit] Error
Please note that the self-portrait from the Hermitage exhibited on this page is dated to the "mid-eighteenth century" and therefore cannot be attributed to Horace Vernet (born 1789). It is likely by Carle Vernet, Horace's father, or another member of this prolific 'dynasty' of French painters.68.170.78.91 18:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
The focus on the Pont d'Arcole painting (1826) is misleading. It was certainly not his most well known painting.
