Horace Smith (cricketer)

Horace Dennis Smith was a New Zealand test cricketer. A right arm fast medium bowler, he took a wicket with his first ball in test cricket, against England on their 1932-33 tour when he bowled Eddie Paynter, but sent down another 119 deliveries without success and was never picked for his country again.
He played 10 other games of first class cricket, 6 for Canterbury and 4 for Otago, taking 17 wickets at 33.52 in all and scoring 404 runs at 22.44 with a best of 52. He was born on January 8, 1913 in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and died on January 25, 1986 in Christchurch, Canterbury aged 73.
