[edit] Helen Hartness Flanders

Great job on the article. I fixed it up a bit per your request. I also submitted it to be featured on the Main Page here. They ask for a pithy "hook" and what I came up with is profoundly unpithy - perhaps you can do better. Feel free to propose an alternative, or replace mine altogether. Glad I was able to help. -- Y not? 07:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

I undid your change to my DYK hook - the hook needs to be one sentence and must contain factual information only, not opinion about oblivion. -- Y not? 14:25, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Did you know...

Updated DYK query On 5 September 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Helen Hartness Flanders, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:SoziologieCover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SoziologieCover.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.... If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 20:57, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Source information added; tag removed.-- HopsonRoad (talk) 22:21, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dulles

The Dulles quote can be found in the Library of Congress U.S. historical/cultural collection; there are .pdf and .jpg files here: the quotation ultimately seems to be from Dulles's book, Germany's Underground. - Nunh-huh 03:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Helen Hartness Flanders you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. I love reviewing articles that are going to be overlooked. It's those ones that are usually the best. Don't get any ideas though. :) — Rudget contributions 19:33, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your GA nomination of Helen Hartness Flanders

The article Helen Hartness Flanders you nominated as a good article has failed , see Talk:Helen Hartness Flanders for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of said article. If you oppose this decision, you may ask for a reassessment. — Rudget contributions 20:58, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm sure you'll be able to get GA once you do those pointers. Thanks for contacting me about this, your sincerity is appreciated. Best, — Rudget contributions 21:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE:Joe McCarthy

Thanks for contacting me about the matter. The thing is, with words like those, even consensus can't justify using them. They project a blatant bias about a relatively recent series of events, so even if there is a consensus they violate the NPOV policy. If I am reverted I'll take this through due wiki process. While we can see McCarthy was one of the darkest politicians in US history, this is an unbiased encyclopedia, so what our eyes see doesn't matter. Once again, thank you for contacting me about this. I hope I made it neutral enough that there won't be any problems. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 16:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Origin of Speech.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Origin of Speech.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Dick Cheney GA

I have completed the receommended tasks you left on Dick Cheney's talk page. Would you consider proceeding into a full-on review? Thanks, Happyme22 (talk) 04:43, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I have added in the waterboarding statement under the "umbrella sentence" of "Cheney has proved himself to be a controversial figure..." in the newly redone the "public perception" section. Please take a look and would you consider proceeding into a full-on GA review? Thanks, Happyme22 (talk) 22:34, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

I have completed all of the tasks pending pass/fail to GA, with the exception of the approval ratings table (which isn't really holding it back from GA). Anyway, with two days remaining in the 7-day "on hold" slot, please feel free to take a look. --Happyme22 (talk) 22:17, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your diligence, Happyme. I'm away from my computer until Monday PM. I'll note that you've reached the finish line ahead of time! Sincerely,--User:HopsonRoad 00:20, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi again. You've done miracles for this article, but I was wondering why you changed all the ref formats to vertical, making it harder to read (at least for me) and unnecessarily drawing out the KB count? Happyme22 (talk) 04:25, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Dear Happyme, as I explained at Talk:Dick Cheney, the vertical format makes the references easier to check—there were many problems that I have found in changing them. References, images, and tags do not affect the KB count, from what I have read. Sincerely,--User:HopsonRoad 04:35, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh I always found the other easier, but whatever works. Happyme22 (talk) 04:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I will be glad to pop in and look over the article in the upcoming days. I've been pretty busy in the real world and with the Ronald Reagan article, so I'll look when I get a chance. --Happyme22 (talk) 01:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

I have read over the article again. Our combined efforts - yours now and mine before - seemed to have turned an awful article into a flourishing one. I'd say it looks great! And congrats with the Flanders article! --Happyme22 (talk) 01:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

That's great! I'm very pleased that Dick Cheney's article has become GA. As I've said before, I started the long process but it couldn't have been finished without your commitment and willingness to take on a big project. The credit goes to both of us, so congrats! I'm trying to stay away from the article's recent discussion about inclusion issues because I really don't want to get into any arguments, but I will continue to watchlist the page and monitor what goes on. Thanks a lot! Best, Happyme22 (talk) 17:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GA Review of Ralph Flanders

I've completed the review of the article you nominated (my very first review!) and have put the nomination on hold to allow you to address a few small issues with prose tweaks. Overall a really nice article! Ealdgyth | Talk 15:41, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks good, I've promoted! Ealdgyth | Talk 02:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy

Hi, Hopson:

The importance rankings, unlike the quality rankings (stub / start / B / GA, etc.) aren't at all a reflection of the article's content. It's just a ranking of the article's priority within a given WikiProject. For that reason, an article that's "low" or "no" importance in one project might be "top" priority in another. For instance, Derek Jeter might be centrally important to WikiProject New York Yankees, but only tangentially important within the broader context of WikiProject United States. You can read more about rankings at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Release Version Criteria#Importance of topic.

For WikiProject Dartmouth College, which is what I reassessed it for, I was implementing a new ranking system that put faculty of Dartmouth in the "low" rather than "mid" category, as discussed on the Project's talk page. Since the rankings are really the prerogative of the WikiProject -- that is, they're used in the context of each project and based on each project's criteria -- I hope you and €pa don't mind if I undo the reversion of that reassessment edit. (I'll drop €pa a line here to explain my rationale.) Dylan (talk) 19:49, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dick Cheney article

Hi, Ivan Kinsman here. I wanted to talk to you about this article as you seem to have a pretty level-headed approach to it. I find I cannot talk to that guy anastrophe in a reasonable manner!

I wanted to know if I can get the environment section I have written on the discussion page inserted into the article. I have spent some time on writing this, collating the information etc. so wanted to get your opinion on the matter and to ask about what steps I should take to proceed this, given that the article is locked.

As you can see by my profile, I am not some quick fly-by-nighter ... I seriously believe that some mention needs to be made about Cheney's approach to environmental matters. Thx. Ivankinsman (talk) 15:50, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

OK. Appreciate the feedback and will await developments ref. this article. Not sure I will look to develop the information further in the sandbox as feel it is pretty much complete and am really beyond that stage. But, will await final outcome Ivankinsman (talk) 19:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
