Hoodstock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hoodstock is an annual community event in Tempe, Arizona, begun in 2004. The brainchild of Moira Hyde, this block party takes place in the neighborhood or the "Hood" (as called by many of the younger residents) behind Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic parish. At any given time during Hoodstock there is a crowd of at least two hundred neighbors and friends, a good amount but not not all of whom are members of the City of the Lord Catholic community.

Events usually include a bike parade, sidewalk art, lip sync, desert contests, and - the highlight - live music. A variety of local acts perform, among them some of international reputation, including Matt Maher and Dreamstate.

Hoodstock is held every year on Memorial Day.
