[edit] Comparison with the Nazi concentration camp slogans

I just discovered this page, and I have issues with its neutrality. While I am as opposed to the existence of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp as anyone, I think comparisons to Auschwitz are highly non-neutral, and best avoided. The article itself even points out that 'Honor Bound to Defend Freedom' bears only superficial similarities to 'Arbeit macht frei' anyway - they don't really have anything in common, beyond both mentioning freedom. On second thoughts: the comparison to Auschwitz is worth keeping if reliable sources can be provided which make that comparison. Without them, as well as being non-neutral, it's original research. Terraxos 04:05, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

I think that the comparison of Guantanamo to Auschwitz is a very grave mistake. Auschwitz was a concentration camp where thousands of people died, unlike Guantanamo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.178.62.195 (talk) 09:14, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

um, I think the point was to compare the slogan, not the survival rate of inmates. Rationalizing internment with slogans involving "Freedom" is surely a peculiar twist that connects the two institutions. Nobody alleges they have gas chambers in Guantanamo. This is more of an example of propaganda imitating military lingo gone terribly, terribly wrong (along the lines of "Shock and Awe") rather than a parallel based in factuality. dab (𒁳) 11:16, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree the comparison belongs -- if it can be referenced to a reliable source. Geo Swan (talk) 18:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
