Hong Kong FA Cup 2006-07
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hong Kong FA Cup 2006-07 is the 33th staging of the Hong Kong FA Cup. Due to sponsorship deal with the Dongguan LANWA Group Co. Ltd, the event will be officially known as 2006/07 HKFA Lanwa International FA Cup. [1]
The competition is going to start on 21 April 2007 with 10 Hong Kong First Division clubs. Four of them will take part in the first round to determine which team will advance to the quarter finals. From quarter finals onward, the cup competition will be a single-elimination tournament.
Although all the matches before the final was held at the Mongkok Stadium, the final was staged at the Hong Kong Stadium on 19 May 2007, sharing the same final date with the FA Cup 2006-07 of England. It was contested by South China and Happy Valley. South China (SCAA) defeated Happy Valley 3-1 to secure their 9th title and their local treble this season (Hong Kong First Division League champions, Hong Kong Senior Shield champions and the cup).
SCAA, as the HKFA Cup champions this year, will represent Hong Kong for Barclays Asia Trophy 2007 in July and compete with Premier League teams Liverpool F.C., Portsmouth F.C. and Fulham F.C.. [2]
