For reference: Holodomor was recently recognized as Genocide by the state parliament of Parana, Brazil (June 5, 2007) [1] and the parliament of the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain (June 13, 2007) [2] --Lysytalk 19:34, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

- A press release of the gov that issued a statement, yes. I would not use the term "blatantly lying" to MFA's statements on foreign government positions. Let's just state that there is certain official position of UA on this issue and the MFA, as an official voice of UA, is not a neutral party to relay to us what others say. I have seen lately another MFA press release [3] where its position on description the UNESCO resolutions is at least questionable. We all know that there must be a strong reason why the word was not in the final resolution despite the strong effort of the Ukrainian delegation. So, let's avoid using the Ukrainian government's own interpretation of what the foreign governments are saying. We are not using the interpretation of the US policies expressed in the official statements of the Iranian government as a source of info on the policies themselves, do we? We use such statements only to describe the Iranian position on the US policy. MFA statements represent the Ukrainian position on the issues including the Ukrainian position towards the foreign government's position. Please note the subtlety. --Irpen (talk) 03:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

LEADERS OF EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT EXPRESS SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINIANS ON OCCASION OF 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF HOLODOMOR
KYIV, November 22 /UKRINFORM/. The leaders of the European Parliament have expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Holodomor Famine of 1932-1933.
Spaeking during a ceremony in Brussels to commemorate the Holodomor victims, Vice President of the European Parliament Marek Siwiec said that eople must know their history in order to live on into future. The Holodomor, in which millions of people died and which was attributed to natural circumstances for many years, was in fact masterminded by the Soviet Communist deathly regime, Mr. Siwiec said. On behalf of the European Parliament he urged the nations across the globe to recognize the Holodomor as genocide. "We are here to honor the victims and well as to prevent similar things from happening in the future," the Vice President of the European Parliament said.
President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Poettering also made a statement on the occasion of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine. "Today we know that the famine which has come to be known as the 'Holodomor' was in reality an appalling crime against humanity. The famine <> was cynically and cruelly planned by Stalin's regime in order to force through the Soviet Unions policy of collectivization of agriculture against the will of the rural population of Ukraine. It was only in 1991, when Ukraine regained its independence, that it became possible for people there to discover the background to this tragic period of their history. All of us should be prompted by this day of remembrance to engrave the 'Holodomor' in our memories", Mr. Hans-Gert Poettering's statement reads.

- You are linking to the release of the Ukrainian foreign office, not the Czech resolution itself. There is no word Genocide, actually, in the original resolution. At least I have not seen the resolution with the the being used. My intention here is not to impose any judgment. We simply need to sort this out since, for instance, this news article (ukr ru) published by respected Ukrainian site does not mention the term being included in the Czech government resolution and states that as of now, 15 (not 26 or 27) countries recognized the Famine as Genocide. We should link to original documents whenever possible. --Irpen (talk) 03:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
