[edit] Atheist?
Isn't Near an atheist ("I Ain't Afraid")? 69.201.150.130 01:28, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I think that was meant as more of a critique of religious fundamentalism than anything else. I don't believe she's ever commented about her religious views, but she does occasionally make references to a "creative energy" and a "spirit", but these are vague terms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.32.56.201 (talk) 05:24, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bisexuality and labelling
Near chooses not use use the label, however she is bisexual. Please don't let this turn into a long discussion on identity politics. She has also said that she does not object to the label, just that she doesn't like it. Near is one of those who doesn't label her sexual orientation, but she is frequently referred to as bisexual by the press. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.247.166.29 (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I think what she identifies herself as takes precedence over what the press reports, people can say that I am gay but does that make me gay? no of course not. However there is a fine line to tread here, we should report that the press reports that they consider her bisexual, but also note the fact that she doesn't consider herself to be bisexual.--15:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
