[edit] alternative image
I've replaced Image:winterberry1.jpg American Winterberry foliage and berries with a new, larger photo of a variegated holly bush, although it is still on American Winterberry. -- Solipsist 21:26, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Why not use both pics? (idle question)Gzuckier 17:48, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- No particular reason - the article doesn't seem long enough to support too many pictures and Image:winterberry1.jpg already had a use on the Winterberry page. -- Solipsist 18:56, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Some idiot has vandalised the site. I should have corrected the matter, but I could not determine how to edit that section. Ta.
[edit] Where did External Links go
MPF removed the External Links.[1] Why? In history he says they were moved to individual species pages. Your average person will look for Holly, not an individual specie. So I say moving them to individual species pages essentially makes them useless to the average person. I say the External Links as they once existed should be restored to this page, and yes, placed on the individual species pages as well. --SafeLibraries 02:48, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
why does the photo heading contain "fuck u"?
[edit] Number of Species
Our article on Aquifoliaceae indicates the family has about 600 species; this is confirmed by "The Families of Flowering Plants" by Watson and Dallwitz [2]. But then here in Ilex, which is the sole genus within Aquifoliaceae, we say there are about 400 species. None of the external resources listed on the page give the 400-species figure. The USDA through GRIN lists about 200; the others combined don't even list 50. Since I can't find a resource that agrees with the 400-species figure I changed the article to 600 to agree with Aquifoliaceae.Thehappysmith 14:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
