Astra Classic was not replaced by the Viva. The new shape is still called an Astra, so therefore the Astra has never been replaced.

The Viva's are rebadged Daewoos, however, in a slightly smaller class, just above the (also rebadged Daewoo) Barina.

The Viva is Holden's effort to capture the sub-AU$20,000 market in Australia, one that Toyota Corolla has a firm hold on and hence the advertising campaign pushing Viva, not Astra. Prior to the release of the Astra AH in 2004, the Astra range started at around the $18K mark. Today (2006) the Astra AH starts around the $22K mark, while the Viva starts around the 18K mark.203.206.50.166 12:23, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
